- I will create a gardening budget and stick to it. Need I say more?
- And I will not impulse buy no matter how bold and beautiful that new variety, If it doesn¹t fit my garden or my budget I will not purchase it.
- I will ration my gardening time. With a new child, 3 a.m. workday wake-ups, and Canadian Living columns to write, my gardening plate is full.I will stop digging more gardens and will make the existing ones lower-maintenance.
- I will make my garden naturally fit. Since we should all become greener gardeners, I will choose disease- and insect-resistant plants (to reduce my use of chemicals) and remove any and all plants that require chemical control (this should also help me achieve Resolution No 3).
- I will embrace nature. Bugs to slugs, cats to dogs, raccoons to deer I¹ll learn to live with them.
- I will be more organized. I move things, I buy things, I plant things and then I move everything again. I will create a garden plan and follow it. And, since I¹m organizing, I also resolve to purge unused items from my shed.
- I will be more water wise. My personal goal is to cherish this precious resource by creating mulched gardens full of dry-tolerant plants.
- I will start a gardening journal and record the good, the bad and the beautiful, to guide my future goals.
- I will improve my knowledge. I¹ve always wanted to learn more about grafting, so its time to enroll in a course.
- I will stick to at least five of my resolutions. Anytime I make a list of resolutions, I also find it necessary to resolve that I stick to a few of them!!! Good luck with yours and Happy New Year!
