Five Reasons Why You Should NEVER Garden

Here are some reasons why you should never garden, despite the fact that it is a "growing" trend.

1. Gardening will make you go outside.

Although it is possible to grow plants indoors, the majority of gardening activities require you to go outside. You will have to get off the couch and go outside where you will be exposed to such things as sunshine and fresh air. To top it off, you will get some exercise and may not even realize it.

2. Your moods may change.

Who needs happiness? Studies show that contact with organic garden soils with certain microorganisms trigger the release of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a natural anti-depressant which means that there is a dangerously high risk of being happier when you garden.

3. You will eat more vegetables.

People who garden are more likely to eat vegetables than non-gardeners. Vegetables are reported to contain such substances as antioxidants, vitamins, nutrients, minerals and fiber. The more vegetables you eat, the better you will feel and the more you might want to garden. It is a vicious circle.

4. Natural garden scents will affect your brain.

Natural scents are found to affect your amygdala, part of your limbic system that controls heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, stress levels, hormone balance and memory. Be careful folks, stopping to smell the roses or lavender while gardening may include; lowered stress levels, relaxed breathing, better memories and better balanced hormones!

5. Gardens can impact house prices.

Gardening around your house leads to curb appeal, causing the value of your house to increase. If you are planning on selling your house, side effects from gardening can include;  multiple offers and a higher sale price than nearby houses that are garden-free.
